Forums - General Discussion - The Official VGC World Cup Thread and Prediction League

for those of you who took part in the Football Prediction League, this one will operate in a similar way, as I will explain below.

Make Predictions like this: England 3-1 USA

if the score is the same as you predicted, you get 3 points, if the result is the same, you get 1 point.

so: England 3-1 USA - 3 points / England 2-0 USA - 1 point.

the opening fixtures will be posted and in the OP shortly.

if anyone wants to help out with tracking scores and points, please post here or on my wall.

you can also use this thread to discuss any World Cup games and News.

Many of my mates are saying coz we played like crap against Japan that will have a bearing on our world cup chances. I dont think so, i think its all about the fine tuning etc. Once Capello brings out the big guns and gets his strategy etc locked down, we will play much better.

Netherlands have just had a 18 game unbeaten run, such momentum can't be stopped even in the world cup.

The best midfield next to spain

Arjen Robben, Sneijder, Van der Vaart, Kuyt and Van Bommel

Robust Defence line up

and lone striker: Van Persie

Total football will take it's rightful place at the top of football

Holland 3 - 1 Denmark

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

Well I won't make any predictions (I'm not nearly enough of a fan for that), I'll say that I'm cheering for Germany's team to win. I don't know why, but something about their ability to piss lots of people off makes me a big fan. The fact that they can play so lazily and arrogantly at times and still consistently do well is the ultimate trolling.

Nevermind, I know why. Go Germany!

Wait a second, are we predicting them all or just set ones?

SCIFIBOY.....You must have a lot of confidence, just seen your bet with Zexen.....I hope England win the World Cup but Can't say I am as confident as you

Realistically, how well does everyone think England will do? There doesn't seem to be quite the same sense of entitlement to success in the media as usual so I'd be interested to know how far you all, particularly the England fans, think they'll go.

I'm predicting a semi final exit, you're usually a quarter final team but with a proper manager now I'd say you'll go one better. I'd rate you as probably the third best team in the competition (after Spain and Brazil, obviously) as most of the major European powers are relatively poor at the moment, with Argentina as something of a wild card.

Let me see if I got it right:

South Africa 0 = 1 Mexico,
Uruguay 1 = 2 France,

I posted after you but hadn't seen your prediction yet. I've gotta say we have lots of coincidences!

Let's just hope we are both right about Argentina.
