I, um...man this is hard to say. I hate to break it to you, but...Nintendo's always only cared about money. Since day one. If someone offered them a nickel to slit your throat, they'd think about it.
That said, what they should did have quite a bit to offer to most gamers. 1:1 swordfighting? Jetski-ing? GTA? Call of Duty? That stuff seems pretty "hardcore" to me (although, of course, those goalposts are always moving, so perhaps I'm a day late again?). Even then, you're kidding yourself if you don't think Nintendo has more in store.
I'll grant you Nintendo's PR machine needs some serious fine-tuning (who are they taking lessons from, Sony?), but kindly don't pretend that Nintendo's "suddenly turned their back on gamers" or whatnot. It just makes you look silly.
