Difference is its Nintendo leading the Casual charge, and so there won't be a bust right now because people know when they buy Nintendo games they'll get a good game and often a great game, the problem with the bust in the 80's was quality was bad across the board

It was Nintendo leading the charge last time with my family with the light gun and duck hunt / super mario brothers as well.  And the bust I'm talking about has nothing to do with the one in the 80's that was caused by a flood of crap quality games.  Actually everyone just ignore that I said bust since it takes away from the message I was trying to get across and will only direct (or cloud) the conversation away from that message.

And the Nes was hugely popular, then Nintendo went more hardcore in their games and more buttons on their controllers, and people left, now they are sticking with simplicity
