The people who got a PS5 Pro when it came out are gonna be the console equivalent of those who managed to get a 4090 at MSRP when that launched. Both got criticized for their initial prices but long term the launch prices of them are gonna be amazing value.

The value of both is still terrible though unless you're a power user or planning to take advantage of the higher price (i.e. planning to sell). I just don't think paying a ridiculous amount instead of an even more ridiculous amount is great.

I'd say the initial price of the PS5 Pro was actually fine aside from the disc drive and stand being sold separately. In general I'm not saying they had good value at launch, just that those who bought them at MSRP back then made good purchases long term considering how much that level of hardware is gonna cost heading into next year. I feel that way about the 64GB of RAM I bought in Spring last year.
