Now the big question is how big that influence was for the Switch. 2M, 5M, 10M, or even more?

While Switch got exported from Japan to other Asian countries like this, I would also like to note that Nintendo did a rather great job at selling the console in smaller markets. The Switch has sold over 24M consoles in RoW, a feat that otherwise only the PS2 managed to achieve, and more than twice the 11.28M of the DS, Nintendo's previous leader in the RoW region.

This should also mean that while the effect of Japan's sales being pushed by grey exports is real, it should also not be too big considering how the official sales developed in other countries. So I suspect that even without this push the Switch would have reached over 30M sales in Japan alone.
