PC and Xbox both offer 512 GB options whereas Sony doesn't even offer a 1TB version of the Pro. NAND prices at the industry level aren't that high, even spot prices. They'd be saving less than $50 by doing that and probably losing more than that in product value, TBH, since the Pro has relatively higher margins and BoM than the others anyway.

Steam Deck OLED 1TB is $160 more expensive than the 512GB model. With minor differences beside the storage.

Steam Machine 2TB is $300 more expensive than the 512GB model.

Series S 1TB is a $100 more expensive than the 512Gb model.

My $100-$150 difference guesstimate between the 2TB and 512GB PS5 Pro models is in fact very conservative in the context of what major players are doing. A 512GB PS5 Pro cuts 1.5TB (3 times more than what Xbox Series S cuts) of ultra fast SSD (more than twice the speed of Xbox's).

Even if we assume Sony gets much better deals on SSD's than everyone else, a $100-$150 difference between 2TB and 512GB is definitely conservative.
