Honestly after seeing this tech in Death Stranding 2, I am convinced this is the next generation leap that people are looking for. Imagine this kind of graphics or better for Switch 3 🤤

PS. Sorry there's no button to share it as a video on mobile.

NBA2K27 is another good example. It looks bonkers compared to the normal visuals. There's room for improvement but it's clear that this is the future of real time rendering and is gonna do a ton for making photorealistic visuals way, way easier to achieve in the coming years. Assuming RDNA 5 will be capable of this then the PS6 and Xbox Helix are gonna be releasing at a good time tech advancement wise. Neural rendering will be a way those consoles will have wow factor over the current gen ones.

Yeah, but the problem is that FSR 4.1 is still being behind DLSS 4.0 in some aspects. PS6 will struggle with both path tracing and neural rendering enabled. The console is supposed to have the TDP of 170W according to the rumours, which is not helping. While something like Switch 3 might use even more advanced version of neural rendering. Given Nvidia huge advantage at ray tracing and frame generation, I believe only S3 will be able to render something better than presented examples.

FSR 5 and PSSR 3 shouldn't be. A neural rendering quality mode can just leave path tracing off if both would be too much. I was thinking the PS6 and Xbox Helix would have 30fps path tracing modes but that could also be done for neural rendering too so multiple quality mode options. The GPUs in the RDNA 5 lineup should be capable of neural rendering unless AMD drops the ball.

So it's been leaked early and man the technology is insane. It depends on the individual game but one like Forza Horizon 6 that is aiming for pure realism with the environments and car models is genuinely perfect for it. The visual improvement over the normal visuals is big and it looks truly incredible and even outright life like at points.

Stuff like animation is gonna be a bottleneck now since ultra realistic graphics with video gamey human animation quality isn't exactly an ideal combination but GTA 6 with its focus on realism and high quality animation should benefit a lot from it so DLSS 5 will a significant selling point of the PC version of that.

This is on a 5090.... and it has jotter and lag.... you notice it with the electric poles on the side of the road as he drives by.

Supposedly dlss5 cost more than half the frame rates, you normally have, to run it.
If a 5090 cannot run Forza Horizon, at high frame rates with this on, yeah, Its of no use to me.

IF you go to 1:53 (again at 3:24) in the video and watch him turn "intensity" of dlss5 to 0% and back up to 100% (I assume that is on/off)...
the visual difference really is not that big.  It changes the lighting of the scene and that is about it.

The best use and worse of it too, is still faces of characters imo.
As you can see towards the end of the video.
Not that that stuff matters much of anything in a racing game.

The changes to characters arn't always for the better though.... and the demand on the gpu, is not worth it imo.

It is really demanding yeah but it's only a matter of time till a budget GPU will be able to use an even better version of this and have games run fine with it on. Here's another video that shows it off. It looks insanely realistic to me with it on at that shot 25 seconds in.
