Most likely nothing dramatic is going to happen unless one side runs out of money/support/men. Russia probably isn't running out soon, although the situation is getting more difficult - but all signs point to Russia just keeping at it, so they can probably afford it for a good while more. Russia is also probably quite stable, but the risk of something significant happening internally is there, and it will only keep increasing as the situation gets more difficult for Russia. But most likely we won't know of it until it's happening, or possibly only until it has already happened.
I know this is a boring answer, but I'm sure most that are not on the frontlines would describe the situation as fairly boring.
