Like code in a box, they create physical waste for the world for no good reason whatsoever as there is no actual game inside, but unlike the codes, waste its all they'll be when the store is closed down.

It's only waste if you throw it away. If you are a collector and keep the cases to display them on your shelves, it is no waste but it has personal value to you.
