They have one thing better, resell value, but are actually worse overall.
Like code in a box, they create physical waste for the world for no good reason whatsoever as there is no actual game inside, but unlike the codes, waste its all they'll be when the store is closed down.
And since they are not attached to your account, which grants resale as pointed above, you'll not be able to play them in the case the store goes down, like we had for the Wii, Wii U and 3DS. Digital games would need the license to be revoked to become unplayable, GKC only need the store to be shut down, and still lacks the convenience factor that is the only point digital media has.
