Essentially it's the dilemma that not all games are best played at the same pace, in a game like Dark Souls where progression itself is the goal moving through it at a quick pace can feel very satisfying, but in a story-based game (or one that encourages "stopping to smell the flowers") progressing through it too quickly can actually feel like you're damaging the experience for yourself by not taking time to experience it. Some games can be much more enjoyable if you slow down your pace or play them in smaller chunks.
