It's the same with Xbox and Playstation where you didn't need to just purchase PS5 or Xbox Series games you could go back to the PS4 and Xbox/Xbox 360/Xbox One and play those games. I got my Switch 2 on launch and I bought 17 games on it, and during that time I also bought like 10 Switch games.
People seem to forget when a system is backwards compatible you have access to older games. The Switch still sells software like crazy and if it wasn't backwards compatible with Switch 2 then I think it's software sales wouldn't be this high.
