I just don't get why Sony doesn't want to make extra money with the physical media purists. Give the PS6 an external disc drive and sell first pary single-player games on disc for additional $20/Euro 20, compared to the digital versions. Third parties can do the same. I'm sure the purists will glady buy the external disc drive and pay the additional $20/Euro 20 to own a disc.

Sony never had a passion for gaming culture. In my opinion that's their biggest flaw!

That does make sense to do. Xbox 360 had an HD-DVD external add-on. Do something like that. Just make the physical edition expensive enough to make up the difference in cost so Sony makes the same amount with them as digital versions.

I do wonder if Xbox will see the backlash and at least have a external blu-ray drive add-on to get a win. Even if there are very few physical games available on Project Helix. At least it can be used for backwards compatibility and playing movies/tv shows.

I feel like the chance of them selling some sort of exteranl drive of some type is nearly at 100% but I'm not sure about doing first party on discs.  I still contend that the main issue is the handheld.  In my thread I created on the matter I got a lot of interesting ideas about how this could be mitigated.  So far the biggest idea is some kind of PS GKC or SSD Key Card.  But the will release some kind of external drive for the PS6 and handheld dock... for sure.
