Don Mattrick probably thought the same in 2013. Same as Ken Kutaragi in 2006. Same as Yamauchi in 1996. History repeats itself. |

limited N64 tech restricting games to 4~64MB. He also lost the support of most third-party developers due to the cost of the cartridges.

created a monstrosity that was very expensive and displeased the developers.
Most games ran better on the Xbox 360. Plus, the PS3 came out a entire year late.

They produced a console that was more expensive and less powerful than the competition.
They also incurred the community's wrath with DRM—a move Sony immediately rejected.
They failed to deliver good games, while PlayStation became the most awarded publisher of the last 13 years.
Now... Please, where is PS6 problem?
Last I checked: Sony remains the leading publisher in terms of awards over the last 5 to 10 years—the one behind some of the most highly anticipated games.
Leaks suggest the PS6 will be cheaper than the next Xbox.
Third-party relationships remain fantastic.
Nintendo targets a different market niche.
In the instances cited, a major blunder gave a huge advantage to a rival... people here want to believe the PS6 is doomed, but they forget that no rival has managed to gain a significant edge over Sony.
