You're sending Sony a message that could be interpreted 11 different ways. If people don't buy Wolverine, the take away could be maybe they're sick of super hero games, or maybe they don't like Wolverine for some specific reason. Buying physical copies, shows that you have an interest in physical copies. If they have a really great year on the back of physical media, and then the next year they lose a hundreds of millions because people aren't buying games any more, that sends a better message than being flat because some people haven't bought any games in the past two years. |
Ultimately do what makes you happy but I don't think we should be naïve about the situation.
Sony has seen the hype for Wolverine and they've seen the metrics, if it underperforms whilst there's a big backlash/movement against them & their releases, they're not going to come to a false conclusion, and even if they did, the game media and shareholders wouldn't.
Equally buying Physical won't send any kind of message which Sony doesn't already know. They already know there is a strong market for physical but they just expect the vast majority of their fan base is too loyal and dedicated to disengage form their products... Showing up day 1 to buy physical simply meets their narrative. They also fully expect with the end of physical media announced, that there will suddenly be a higher physical ratios due to scarcity and even scalpers.
If people are reclined to act, that is fine... but just don't think buying physical is sending them any kind of meaningful message. The best thing you can do is disengage from their products for the short term, to show that it's causing genuine harm with their most important fans. That's the last I will say on that topic .
