I guess I wonder.

If people who buy physical just don't show up for Wolverine, they could also take the opposite lesson as just "ah clearly people aren't buying physical and Wolverine is just a bad seller."

There are plenty of times where companies take absurdly dumb lessons away from something. A lot of execs are wildly disconnected from the market. It's also why you frequently get "people must be sexist, and that's why this game failed. No other possible reason." =

I think outright stop buying digitally and buying more physically makes more sense. If Wolverine sold 80% physically, I think that would be substantially more telling for Sony.

Honestly I disagree. They already know the message that people would like Physical as an option (look at physical PS5 vs digital sales, its like 5:1), a high physical ratio on Wolverine is still lining their pockets and telling them how loyal you are. They need to see the extent to which it can actually disenfranchise their loyal fans and stop them from turning up. I don't think they'd dismiss an underperformance from Wolverine without looking at the wider context/backlash.

Simply sending them money through different means isn't going to make them reconsider/delay their stance IMO. But it's an uphill battle anyway...

^ Otter has the right mindset. To simply go out and buy Wolverine or any physical copy just tells SNY that you're fully aware that you're getting FKD over in a digital only future and yet you decided to keep giving them your money.

If SNY truly doesn't care about these customers anymore, then they're just going to think they're stupid for continuing to support PS. If SNY has just made a mistake, then by having physical customers continuing to act as if it's just business as usual, will likely make SNY assume that you'll switch over to digital only on PS6 when the time comes. Neither of those outcomes are acceptable.

The only answer that gives PS (physical) gamers a shot is to boycott in some fashion. You have to make SNY and it's investors see and understand that you won't accept it and won't put up with it. If SNY loses money, especially focused on physical copies now, while also being bombarded with the same type of backlash they've been sending SNY's way recently, then the message will get received and understood by them.

Give us, the (physical) consumer, what we want, which isn't really asking for much in this case, or you'll get nothing from us going forward.

I can only assume SNY would be smart enough to realize this also very likely means a PS6 boycott, and that's not something they're likely going to be willing to accept. That's going to almost certainly lead to a weak launch (year), and that makes a successful gen much more difficult to pull off. SNY would be putting themselves in another PS3 type scenario, or similar, and unless they've truly gone full retard, they'll do what they need to, to make sure PS6 has a successful launch, even if that means backtracking on their physical media discontinuation to some degree.
