I don't think it's weird, Playstation knows people are going to rush to buy physical in reaction to the news. There's no impact there if everyone is waiting day one to purchase their latest title, it actually tells them to continue on business as usual. If they feel it's hurts their wider business however (underperformance) and causes enough friction with their core market to break the bond then they are more likely to react. So far from the engagement I've got on the topic in threads I imagine people will continue consuming Playstation content as per usual, so I don't think there's going to be any movement here.
Sony first party titles have already benefitted from decent physical shares, their presumption is simply that 95% of these people will just jump to digital if the option is taken away.
