After the news of being discontinued in Europe, it's near impossible now for Switch 1 to reach 160M. The chances already weren't looking so good even under the original idea that Switch 1 wont be discontinued until 2028 or 2029. Them discontinuing Switch 1 in early 2027 for Europe is sooner than most of us expected which makes it highly unlikely it can reach 160M now when taking away approximately 25% of Switch 1's already slow sales now, and nothing indicates that NA or Japan will make up for that chunk of lost sales.

Like I mentioned earlier, a new model or price cuts are out of the question at this point. So only somewhat realistic approach where Switch 1 can still reach 160M is if Nintendo extends its life in NA and Japan for an absurdly long time and we see some miracle big game release on Switch 1. Or maybe Nintendo taps into that rumored India market and somehow gets big there. But realistically all of these goals are major reaches. Without a price cut or new model, the Switch 1 has virtually no juice left to squeeze out of the orange.

But regardless, even if falling short of 160M. It really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things and it's mainly just a fun topic of discussion to see if it could get #1, but it really doesn't change the great legacy of the system and how appealing it is. Still an amazing console regardless whether its #1 or #2 in sales.

It matters a lot actually. Reaching number 1 is very important for us fans.
