Retailers will have very little reason to have sales or discounts on games, they don’t make anything off of digital stuff. It’s not the same as a digital storefront. 

Unless things change drastically next gen, SNY is in a position to take a bigger cut of the profits for game sales on their platform, within reason.

What are third parties going to do in an all digital future? Refuse to launch for PS hardware or refuse to sell on the PS5/PS6 storefront post 2028?

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PRO  -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.
