I can understand the feeling, as it comes from missing a "new" "mainline" entry of one of the big hitters of Nintendo like smash, Animal Crossing, Zelda, Pokémon or Mario.
I think Nintendo is also trying to find a good way to follow up on such outstanding titles like Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Wonder, Breath of the Wild/Tears of the kingdom, Smash Ultimate without feeling cheapened or cut down. They basically have the same issue as they had with Metroid after Super Metroid : They didn't know how they could follow up such a masterpiece...
