ive made this point here in there in a few threads and i figure what the hell, ill make my own dedicated to this topic because, well.. i have something to say damn it.
im a big nintendo fan. i buy all the games whether they are remakes, ports, slop, things that dont deserve to sell, etc. i even bought that half assed pointless 3d all stars nonsense. its still in the shrink wrap and i have no intention of sticking that thing in my switch, but i bought it. point is, i do my part to get nintendo their money and my support whether they deserve it or not because all that matters at the end of the day is a championship, as well all know.
but im still going to complain when they do bullshit and i have a right to because im an american citizen. the fact that this zelda remake is being positioned as their big holiday 2026 release is a shame. i think its cool and im glad theyre doing it, but this is a supporting title to a lineup that should be able to stand on its own with or without this game. this game shouldnt be "batting in the 3 hole" to use a baseball reference. The fact that this is the best they have is a testament to how little they have going on right now.
the starfox game is cool i guess. its nice to look at and i love the style. im just so damn disappointed that it is a starfox 64 remake. it should have been its own original title. yoshi is whatever. ill buy it and play it but its a repeat of what theyve been doing with yoshi since wooly world came out. i can say the same about mario tennis fever, what have they done to really make this stand out or evolve the franchise at all? nothing. switch sports resort and rhythm heaven are solid releases, but these are B/C tier releases. i am obviously not counting switch 2 editions because they obviously dont count for anything (still buying of course).
the switch needed a new original title since they havent really had one thats worth a shit since metroid prime 4. you could maybe even argue donkey kong bananza. thats what we needed. we needed starfox to be an original starfox title, a heavy hitting title as their main draw (new 3d mario, anyone?), and then ocarina of time could have been a great supporting title.
i just have to say i really dont understand how everyone is just cool with this. im getting real PS4 2014 vibes with this strategy theyre implementing here. it was shameful then when sony did it and its shameful now. not trying to disuade anybody from buying because we all need to do our part if we want nintendo to finish first, but we should absolutely be bitching online about it and let nintendo know that although we got their backs and would never do anything to compromise their position in the market, we still deserve better than this.
