My wife and I picked a couple random movies to watch on Hulu and both picks were good, one of them surprisingly good.

Code 3 - I do not recall seeing a movie about EMTs before. Once upon a time in my 20s I got my EMT-B level certification. I knew that the way I view personal responsibility is a little beyond the average. One call involving a kid was enough to know that if I entered the field I would second guess every hopeless situation and probably end my career with a shotgun in my mouth. My mother-in-law at the time was an EMT in a smallish city so I had heard stories.

All that sets up my opinion that while Code 3 does not involve suicide but instead was somewhat of a dark comedy, it was a fairly accurate accounting. It was well acted by Rainn Wilson who I am used to straight comedy out of and nothing as serious as this. The story is nothing fantastical more a 'day in the life of' but it was good. Knowing nothing of the film and watching the preview I expected that the preview showed all 5 funny parts and was not expecting much let alone poignancy. Perhaps this film will not hit people without a background or knowledge of the EMT trade the same way it hit me but ... I've been wrong lots of times before.

The other show we watched was Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice. I am not a big fan of Vince Vaughn but I do like James Marsden and Keith David. The premise looked interesting and the acting around Vaughn (and even his acting) had me going into the movie thinking it could be my favorite Vince Vaughn movie. Although it was not a high bar to clear, Vaughn wise, the movie managed to clear it. It was worth the time spent viewing this time travel action film.
