You're now repeating what I already said in the dollar being stronger in 2000 than in 2026 and even 2017. I said that already. People had more money to spend  in 2000 than they do now. If you went to an inflation calculator and came up with that 80 billion you are the one who daffy ducked yourself as the inflation calculator merely tells you how much the dollars value has changed over time, not how much something would sell for. Hopefully you have a better argument  than "adjustments for inflation".

I feel like only people not old enough to remember the ps2 era think the dvd argument has no merit. 

the world was switching from VHS to dvd. It was an amazing leap. And Sony owned the tech. And was able to add it to the ps2. We will never see an advantage like that again. It’d be like if Sony had a monopoly on streaming nowadays. It was crazy. 

I don’t know what evidence you want. But our parents had 2 ps2s in the house. Ps slims they got for 99 dollars as it was cheaper than standard alone dvd players. They owned zero games. 

a big part of ps2 being mainstream was that people bought it as a dvd player. That doesn’t make the gaming system any less amazing though. Ps2 was it. No other system has caught the zeitgeist that much since imo.
