Too much hardware too fast. They want the min hardware they have to make while at least keeping their existing userbase. If it doesn't grow then so be it, but I can only see them attempting what you're asking for if they know it'll grow the userbase considerably. I personally don't think it would.

I was mainly talking from the consumer perspective there since having more hardware options is always good. In terms of it'd be more beneficial or negative for Sony I think the impact would be small either way.
