With all the gamers I've seen that say they're (totally) ok with PS5 lasting until 2030, I personally think SNY should launch the PS6 handheld asap, but as a part of 9th gen, and subsidize it so it's $499 or less. Either call it something unique, while making the marketing super clear that it plays PS5 and PS4 games (and also possibly future PS6 games), or call it a PS5 and make it clear it's part of the PS5 ecosystem. Extend 9th gen to 3032 if need be because of this.
Heck if they were worried about the hardcore high end hardware gamers not wanting to wait that long for new tech, then launch the main PS6 as a new PS5 Pro (while dropping the old PS5 Pro). This should easily extend 9th gen until 2032.
I don't think SNY is going to do this though, even though I totally think it would work.
PS1 - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.
PS2 - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.
PS3 - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.
PS4 - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.
PRO -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.
PS5 - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.
PRO -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.
