Media Molecule is so absurdly creative, it would be really sad to see them get shut down.

Honestly if they can't hit big numbers anymore, Sony should make them release AA games in a faster output so they can bring out many ideas in different projects that cost a lot less, and both help Sony fill gaps in their AAA spread and bring more diversiy to the platform.

Maybe one of those AA games can find a big audience and a team be expanded into making it a franchise even. Like Little Big Planet.

Getting rid of MM, like they did with Japan Studios, would be such a stupid thing. They could find at the very least a new Astro Bot success cases or two within MM, IMO.

No doubt it, the loss of MM would be unfortunate. But, outside of 2 LBP games, I don't think they've shown either the ability to crank out popular games or even games on a consistent basis.

They need to go back to LBP imho, but that ship may have already passed after Sackboy's Adventure.

All the best to them, bit if they aren't doing a new LBP, I hope they're doing a train simulator using Tren as a base.

I think this is based off their ambitions though, I wouldn't doubt they can deliver a game in short time when they did already. They only stopped because Dreams is an insane technical achievement. I presume their next game leans in a similar direction. That can be reigned in and again publishers can and should direct developers under their management.

Tearaway- Produced in good time. Good game which made novel use of PS Vita features but needed more traditional gameplay focus. Was a little too whimsical, overly simple. A balance between artistic/expression and fun is very attainable if they continue making platfomer-esque games and set it as a focus in the same way Nintendo/Team Asobi does.

Dreams- Crazy ambitious but all that ambition goes to waste if there isn't a brandable core game, characters, hub/world for people to connect with and within. See Fortnight, Animal Crossing, Roblox, LBP, Tomadochi etc.

I think the ambitious game creator type genre is too risky at this point and they should lean into smaller adventure platformers/social games with novel mechanics and creations as a component but not the soul of the game. I'm sure the team would rather do that then be shut down.
