Even as Amazon was supposed to ship my copy of Saros on Wednesday, I could go pick it up today, so I got it home some hours ago, played a bit of it, and it is really pretty much Returnal 2.
At least the first run wasn't easier than Returnal, but since I can now upgrade permanently some stats it should be easier. I did turn off all assists tho, but even so it still has clearly a bullet pull when you are aiming close to an enemy.
The characters look ok, the game scenarios and materials look good, and the effects look awesome.
It lets you change the color of all kinds of projectiles and lasers by type, which is GREAT, so I know exactly what kind of attack is coming towards me by color alone and can react a lot quicker.
It is still a lot of corridors with some bigger but still pretty small fighting areas, and a few side paths for challenges and/or rewards, at least up until now, as I couldn't make it up to the first boss without dying.
It is much brighter than Returnal and I appreciate it, it is a lot less confusing playing it the first time now than when I tried Returnal back then.
I think there is a decent background story going on but at least by the start of the game most chars are quite bland and uninteresting. I really don't think they introduced them properly, but I read all the logs to know what I can about everything.
Well, that's my very early impressions so far.
