Think it would have to be Donkey Kong. It's Miyamoto's creation for one and he runs the show on these animated movies, second the moment they built an entire theme park area for Donkey Kong at the different Universal parks is when you knew they were going all in on that.

I do think people need to have somewhat more realistic expectations on box office here though, DK is not as popular as Mario. I'd expect $550 million or so, but against a budget that will be in the $90-$100 million range, that will still be a large profit for both Universal/Illumination and Nintendo. Illumination's recent "Migration" CGI movie (the one with the ducks) made $300 million WW against a $72 million dollar budget, Disney/Pixar's recent Hoppers is at $375 mill against a $150 million budget ... so $550 from say $95-$100 mill for Donkey Kong would be a good result I think. Other IP like Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Garfield, Addams Family, Spongebob, Smurfs, have had recent CG movies as well and finished in that $200-$300 million range.

I think Miyamoto may have to swallow his pride a bit and commit to a deeper story for DK though ... you're not going to be able to just make a film heavily loaded on DKC game call backs and action sequences alone.
