This is why I buy physical games. I think I've spent maybe $20 on digital in the past decade. I paid for a copy of Blaster Master Zero on the Switch and a copy of the Contra Anniversary Collection for my Xbox Series X, and I think that's it.

@Bolded. I doubt that will happen, at least not without massive lawsuits. Physical copies are legally your property. I know companies try to patent things to take away control of other people's property (Ford has apparently filed a bunch patents for basically surveillance software that gauges the driver's mental state through various criteria and won't let the vehicle be put into gear if it determines the driver unsuitable to drive; also to serve targeted ads). But one of the most important things about property, one of its defining characteristics, is being able to use it fully at your own discretion without the permission of the original manufacturer. That's why there's lawsuits over things like "right to repair" as well as the "Stop Killing Games" movement.
