"4k" just means outputting at 4k/resolutions above 1080p and taking advantage of a 4k displays. PS4 Pro and Xbox One X were "4k" machines released about a decade ago. Xbox One X actually hit native 4k surprisingly often which is the other thing. The less demanding the base game, the easier it is to hit the higher resolutions. |
I get it, to some degree, but even the ps4 pro used checkerboard upscaling to hit 4k. To me, probably being childish, 4k means native. Most games, outside indie, are not 4k. Rebirth on the ps5 can fall as low as 1620p via dynamic scaling. Spiderman 2 in Fidelity mode drops to 1440p, Performance mode can drop to 1080p.
Also doesn't help I think 4k is grossly overrated. 1440p vs 4k is so close, 4k isnt worth the resources.
But I am off topic quite a bit.
