A perfect illustration of this right now is the Surgeon General confirmation hearing for Casey Means.
She is auditioning for the role despite having completed no residency and not having an active physician's license. She's basically a glorified wellness influencer who runs a company selling woo-woo with her brother. Dr. Nick from The Simpsons would be more qualified than her.
