The fact that Switch 2 became the best selling system already during its launch year means its momentum would need to crater pretty hard for PS5 to overtake it this year. Because a normal hardware sales cycle should mean that PS5 will sell less in 2026 than in 2025 due to being a year older, while Switch 2 should sell a bit more in its second year than during its launch year. So for Switch 2 to be outsold by PS5 this year could only happen if for some reason its momentum stalls so much that it declines in sales year on year even more than PS5 will decline in sales this year in its sixth year on the market. Not 100 % impossible but it would be highly unusual.
