Not gonna lie, not really sure what I'd want from this.
If they want to scale back some of the more undesirable stuff with Kratos and the game (such as the sex mini-games), I'll admit that I won't really care. As long as they keep his brutality intact, I think any other changes are going to have zero impact on the overall experience as long as the game looks good, sounds good, and plays well.
As for actual gameplay changes... if they're going to go the route of making this closer to the Norse games (not exactly the same), then that's fine as long as the original games are put onto PS Classics (which is what I would prefer from this project in all honesty).
Regarding how far out this game is depends entirely on how much of a change the games will be: if they're just upgrading the graphics then it shouldn't be too long of a wait considering they already have Bluepoint's cancelled MP title to basically pull a lot of existing assets from.
Since they are going this route, I hope we see the rest of the saga remade too. And I really hope SMS are not devoting a lot to resources to this and their only other output becomes Cory's game; but there may be logical reasons for that too.
Anyways, excited to see more. But honestly I'd prefer SMS was making something else. |
I doubt they will remake the other games, from thosd they only made Ascension themselves, even as part of the series story, it they would remake those they would have had it announced now too.
It would be weird to have this 1, 2, 3 remake, then another one with games between 1 and 2 in them, if they wanted to tell the whole story in remakes it would have been now.
As this is developed in-house, I expect a very high quality work, so even as they have some assets and the whole story and sequence already layed out for them to build the remakes around, it'll take considerable time to put together with their new vision of what it needs to be now.
But I'm fairly positive their only other game is Cory's game, indeed, but when that is released that team will move on to make Santa Monica's next new game as well, while helping with the remake, so likely only affecting their schedule heavily as the next game is in its concept phase and the remakes becoming a side project when that new game goes in full production.
