| Zippy6 said: Furukawa has addressed the ram price situation again, pretty much repeating what he said before, though with a more definitive time frame on when it could be come an issue. "Furukawa says the recent surge in memory prices didn't significantly impact on its hardware profitability during the third quarter of its financial year (October to December 2025), and he doesn't expect a significant impact in the fourth quarter either. Also confirmation that Switch 2 hardware is currently sold at a profit: "Furukawa explained that while Nintendo wants to avoid situations where it's selling each unit at a loss, he also doesn't think it should be "overly influenced" by what could be a short-term trend." |
Sounds like Furukawa is saying that even if it does get to a point where RAM prices get so out of control that Switch 2 starts being sold at a loss, they won’t raise the price and would rather just wait it out and eat the costs until RAM prices eventually get back under control and they can be profitable again - He’s looking at long term outlook (calm) over short term gain (panic).
If that’s truly the case then that’s fantastic news of those who haven’t bought the system yet!
