Maybe they overshipped it a bit during Christmas and the game had a high digital ratio even in Japan. 1 million from shipments + digital in Japan and around 700k elsewhere

Breakdown for Kirby shipments is 900k Japan, 860k outside Japan.

In this case I believe MP4 sold over 900k and only barely missed the mark lol
