This mindset is a good example of being in a bubble. The vast, vast majority of people who buy consoles would only care about a 9 year old console outselling a 26 year old one in a "that's neat" sort of way at most before immediately moving on. The impact on sales would be negligible the same way that Nokia having the best selling phone of all time does nothing for them cause only nerds like us care a lot about records like this. This is why Nintendo is no longer pushing the Switch 1 any more at all and just letting its demand quickly fall off since they want people to buy a Switch 2 instead now.
