Trump will be gone in 3 years and likely won't even be alive in a decade. At this rate the Republicans will be routed in the mid-term elections next year too, dramatically reducing this administration's power.

Maybe they'll take Greenland as they won't get a huge amount of resistance, Trump is a massive narcissist and he knows he doesn't have much time left at his age, and he wants monuments for himself like every self serving narcissist. 

The damage done to the US' reputation I don't think will ever be repaired though. No ally will ever trust them again, why would you, all it takes it one election cycle for some nut job to get elected and decide to throw any and all alliances in the gutter. 

Half of Canada will either sit back and allow it or welcome it, and these are the type of people you want fighting. The other half will be upset or furious, but most of those people don't have guns and want nothing to do with guns or fighting. So ya, if the USA decided to invade, it won't be much of a fight and it'll be over relatively quick. As I said in a prior post, there's plenty of other ways the USA could take Canada without directly invading and minimizing the conflict.

The USA is too powerful all around to ignore them. They might not be trusted anywhere near as much, but most Countries don't have a lot of choice at the moment. Perhaps in the future they can back away by making the necessary moves sooner than later, but that takes a lot of willpower, as well as politicians willing to take a beating knowing they'll end up with short terms in Gov because of the 'turbulence' it will cause, and it's questionable who's willing to go through all that even though it may be the best decision for the future. People these days have really short memories and fuses.
