Final 2025 Update: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (PS5)

This is the first COD game I have bought and played since Black Ops Cold War. It's not that I prefer the BO sub series over COD titles but I refused to support Activision's pointless and confusing re-tread of Modern Warfare titles. I though BO Cold War had really fun and engaging multiplayer with a decent campaign. In comparison I think BO 6 has a better campaign but the multiplayer is not as satisfying. I barely play the Zombies mode. The campaign carries over a little bit from Cold War with the characters but mostly focuses on a new story and enemy. The main villain this time around is a female, which is a interesting twist. The strange mix of psychological and supernatural elements can still be quite annoying, especially when it feels over done. Some of the missions are cool and have an international spy vibe to them. I especially liked the heist at the casino and the mission in the Iraqi desert. This game experiments a bit adding some open world elements and branching mission options. The developers obviously drew some inspiration from the game Control especially for one level set in an office. The campaign is an amusing way to spend a few hours even though the story gets convoluted and pushes the Saddam had WMDs propaganda. The multiplayer kind of feels barebones but it gets the job done. There is some jankiness here and there and sometime strange bots interfere with certain game modes. They have gone completely overboard with the cosmetics and skins, with conflicting art styles that break the immersion of the game. I am tired of getting killed by the likes of Chucky, Seth Rogen, and Beavis and Butt Head. I put in over 50 hours into this game, mostly multiplayer. It is second in playtime this year for me behind only Balatro. I hear BO 7 is worse. I will only play it eventually for its co-op campaign, which I have been missing since BO 3.
