Well Canada isn't powerful either. We don't have nukes or hydrogen bombs, last I checked, and we don't have a military big enough to push back. -_-

The problem with taking out Canada's leader is that it wouldn't really accomplish anything. There would be no popular support in Canada and anyone who took over would fiercely oppose the action and the United States. Trump would have to fully take over the country which would be far more messy. 

The theory is that Trump can essentially win over the people and the opposing party because of how awful Maduro was. I don't think things will go as cleanly as Trump seems to expect, but I think the situations are fundamentally different.
