There are other Switch users who don't have another current gen platform though, and yet others who value portability over fidelity.

A game running on Switch 2 is naturally not gonna look on par with PS5/PC/etc, because portable hardware is necessarily less capable than dedicated consoles. People know going into Switch 2 that it's not going to look high end.

I did specify that you would need to only be a switch 2 owner.  In that scenerio I agree but how many only switch 2 owners care about COD.  If you care about playing COD, there is a very high chance you would not be a switch 2 only owner because well COD hasn't been on the platform for years.  I am just thinking about the demographics of the community and the chances of the 2 meeting up is very slim.  Also, just my personal opinion of course but the switch in handheld mode controls just isn't suited for any decent length of time playing FPS.  I would not say I hate the controls but for a person with decent size hands it becomes crap very quick.

As to your 2nd paragraph well that proves my point.  The switch 2 use case for a game like COD is very small if you ask me for the demographic that uses the device.  Do not get me wrong, COD probably will sell decently but nowhere close to PC, PS5 or Series X levels.

Yeah if you're already invested in COD you'll own a PS5/Xbox/PC, but there may well be plenty of Switch 2 owners who aren't invested now, but would consider giving it a go if it came to their platform of choice. We have seen over the last 8 years that third party ports to Switch like Doom, Witcher 3, Bioshock trilogy, et al apparently do well enough that these ports keep coming.

I see we pretty much agree that a port could sell "decently" and that's the thing, a port is a lot cheaper than making a game from scratch so it only needs to sell decently to be worth doing.
