Game of The Year despite using generative AI?

If neural rendering becomes a standard rendering technique in the gaming industry (which seems likely given Nvidia sets the trends here) are you going to quit gaming?

I think we'll yet see another case of "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" and most people shrugging it off when that happens.

When more artists and animators are put out of work, say that again.

The problem is they're glorifying soulless trash instead of concept art from actual hard working human artists whose livelihood is at stake because of small minded overpaid CEOs who wanna fuck over the little people.

This also shows how full of shit The Game Awards are.

If the goal is to protect jobs at all costs we should go back to making agriculture and manufacturing 100% human based instead of mechanical

Stop using emails and quitting phones and go back to writing letters, this way we can keep jobs for Postmen

AI is just a tool. People will lose their jobs every time a new technology is discovered and became mainstream. This is just the history of industrial revolution repeating itself. It sucks for artists, but it is what it is

I work as a programmer. A lot of what I do, especially when it involves automation, ends up replacing other jobs. Supermarket cashiers, gas station attendants, bank tellers… all of them have been affected by automation

That's not very different from what AI is doing now to designers and concept artists

Should I be unemployed so more people can have jobs?

It's an interesting ethical discussion, no doubt. But there are more than enough problems in the world to keep almost everyone productively employed. We don't need to take steps backward in technology just to preserve jobs

A better solution than freezing technological progress to simply protecting jobs is to offer strong social safety net and providing high quality and acessible (preferable public) education, so people can learn a new occupation

Easy for you to say. Art and animation are almost all I know, and two of the only things I'm good at no matter how hard I try. And since you're not an artist or animator you could never relate to my situation.

And like I said somewhere else, how can the rich expect to make money on their products when more and more people will be too poor to afford their products? Because a widened wealth gap is what will result of advancements in AI. Then the US military will be stupid enough (especially based on recent events) to incorporate AI into defense, aka Skynet, meaning we'll all be nuked into fucking oblivion.

Thanks for nothing, AI advocates, you fucked us all over just because you thought people like me were "overreacting".
