"Lumen Lite". Get it? Light.
UE5 is a dog of an engine, so seeing the Switch 2 running it even in a scaled back fashion but feature-complete is a good indication of where the software running on this hardware is going this generation, expect further performance enhancements and refinement over the next 7 years.
I am interested to see how pricing for the Switch 2 goes over the next 12 months... LPDDR5X has increased 250% in price with a potential for it to reach 500% in 2026 if some projections pan out... It might make Nintendo expedite a premium OLED console release where they can capitalize on a higher average selling price... But also make them delay a Switch 2 lite potential release.
It really depends how long they can coast on their current pricing/supply contracts before they get renewed, which is why Sony can do heavy discounting of the PS5 this holiday season.
But absolutely no way can Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft keep their current prices without some pricing trickery long term. (So buy now!)
But in Nintendo's favor... In hindsight, even though it sucks... 12GB of Ram is probably going to play in their favour in terms of DRAM pricing in 2026 and 2027.
Same goes for the Series S.
