Guessed by @TruckOSaurus

Don't read this if you haven't finished the game yet, but yeah... I really didn't like the ending to this one. I won't go into great detail here, my review mostly covered it, but it honestly feels like they were pupeetering the characters to play out an ending that felt off for them and that just felt like such a sucker punch after how amazing the rest of it was. It's hands down both my GOTY and my biggest dissapointment, I felt like I was playing a top 10 game for most of its runtime and that made it sting all the more. But well it's still here because 98 % of it is incredible, I'm not sure if I'll like it more or less in the long run but for now it's settling here just outside the top 20.

Having just finished it last night, my initial thoughts here are I disagree with your take on the ending. I thought it fit the characters well and was well-built up, it left me speechless and I'm thinking about it nonstop.

That said, I looked up your review on the site (you should just link to it in the part I bolded) and seeing your more in-depth explanation on why the ending bothered you, honestly I agree with a lot of your points. I don't so much have a problem with what happens in the ending, it was very impactful, but I do wish it had been presented in a way more similar to what you described on the review...

Spoiler!
Especially Maelle's ending. That was my first choice and it was kinda lame how the developers clearly paint that as the 'wrong' one.

I've been trying to finalize the positions of my top 20 today and am still unsure, but as I continue to play through more of the optional stuff in Clair Obscur, I'm just glad to say I don't regret throwing it into that top 20 before finishing it.

Edit: honestly, my feelings on this ending are kinda the exact opposite to how I felt about Hades II's ending, but I'll refrain from spoiling that.

Good point, I've linked it now. And yeah maybe the use of the word "pupeeteering" was a slight exaggeration (though it's a nice gestral pun unintentionally), wasn't sure how to describe it in short form.

Whew, I'm finally all caught up!! Sorry about the huge spam everyone, hopefully I'll keep things steady from now on.

I'm still not 100% sure on the final positions of my Top 20, but I'm getting there. I promise I'll send the list as soon as I have it 100% decided, but I'm gonna get things started on this Top 20 and put that pressure on myself to think it through sooner rather than later! Have a couple hints:

#20 - A 5th generation, animal mascot game from an IP that is dead/dormant nowadays... but not a platformer.

#19 - The only game in this series to feature no recurring "characters"... well, at least not before you get to the post-game.

20) Star Fox 64?
