You do realize NSW performed far worse during its first BF, no? I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but it placed in a *distant* third. (And that was with Mario Odyssey & BotW.) Again, BF is for discounts. The shiny, new system with no discounts (and let’s be clear, the MKWorld bundle discount was for Cyber Monday, not Black Friday) is not going to compete against a system with an $100 price cut and like half the library >50% off— time and time again we have seen this, every single generation.

Yeah I saw that. That is a good point. But let's also remember Switch had big issues with stock its first year, something Switch 2 hasn't had. That, plus one of the commenters in the link you posted said PS4's were discounted literally under $200, completely different than PS5 being discounted to $400. Just imagine how much more PS5 would have dominated this Black Friday if it was another $100 or $200 off. PS4 under $200 is an impulse buy, PS5 at $400 is definitely not that, still a major purchase.

December will tell us more. Maybe S2 dominates December, but i'd say signs are definitely looking worse for Nintendo as we move further and further away from launch hype. Europe is ALREADY bad for S2 in its first year, and could this be the first sign that the US market is weakening from lack of games and bad price? maybe. And even a "maybe" for Switch 2 starting to weaken in two the major global markets before its first year is done I would say is definitely not a good look for the system. Mistakes have been made, 2025 was basically the year of mistakes for Nintendo. They need to admit these mistakes and correct them. Games and price. Fix those two things and S2 won't have to continue to rely on launch and Switch1 hype to sell. The fact that they had sooooo long to get ready for the Switch 2, and weren't putting out much other than ports and remasters in the Switch's final 2 years, and still couldn't come up with a decent library launch year is very troubling.

In reality the Switch 2 is the fastest selling console ever in its first year. If that's a year of mistakes you must have some truly wild expectations. The most recent comparison chart on here is Switch 2 vs PS5 and it's 3 million ahead despite its first holiday season not even being in the data yet.
