Looking back at 2017… turns out Switch did significantly worse not just than PS4 but also XBOne during November. In fact, holiday sales were so strong for PS4 and XBOne that each system had hit their peak holiday season, meanwhile Switch saw its weakest (pre-2024). Come December, however, and Switch would pull way far ahead.

Yes, Switch 2 has been an unprecedent hit, but these figures do not suggest anything poor about Switch 2’s trajectory. Either PS5 and NS2 are experiencing crazy strong holiday quarters (most likely, seeing how NS2 & PS5 performed in October), or PS5 is seeing good success with NS2 falling apart (very unlikely… I mean, the system literally has three 10mil sellers entering its first holiday season. Come on now lol).

Three 10mil sellers?

There's Mario Kart World and Pokemon Legands ZA.

What's the third?

DK! Technically none of them are (officially) 10mil sellers, but they are all fast on track to hit it eventually during the NS2 generation.
