That would be devestating to Switch 2 sales potential, Smash Ultimate was a big driving force in creating hype for Switch 1 and increased its momentum. Without a new Smash on Switch 2, that will be a major loss of appeal for the system. We see what lack of hype titles does for a console in the Switch 2s performance in Europe this year. With few appealing software, its impossible for the system to keep any momentum and appeal. Nintendo has given the PS5 a fully open goal in a major market by not having anything relevant this holiday in terms of software.

There was no new Mario Kart on the Switch 1 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the best-selling game on the console. Though I realize MK8 was on the Wii U, which was a huge flop of a console.

Given that Switch 2 won't get any boost from third party games unlike PS5, that means the Switch 2 is fully riding on strong Nintendo exclusives to have momentum. Smash not getting a game on Switch 2 would be an enormous blow, it would be like PS5 not getting stuff like Cod and Battlefield, that is how much those major Nintendo franchises drive the appeal of Nintendo consoles, without such games Nintendo have nothing.
