Same can be said for SMOdyssey not getting second place in 2017. That game should’ve been neck-and-neck with BotW. Another one of the greatest games ever made.

And while we’re at it: Astro’s Rescue Mission was robbed as well!

TOTK is an incredible game, and one of the most technically impressive ever made for the sheer depth and possibilities of its emergent physics system with Fuse and Ultrahand, and how all of it runs with virtually zero bugs or abnormalities, all on a 2015 mobile chipset.

As a game, I did like BOTW a bit more as exploring Hyrule was just more compelling the first time around, and by personal 2023 GOTY was Turbo Overkill for its just insanely nice game feel and style, but TOTK's still one of the best games of its generation in my book.

The Game Awards are full of shit, hence Animal Crossing New Horizons losing to The Last of Us Part II.
