I’ve been saying 2027 for about 5 years now and this announcement doesn’t change that. Not sure why 2027 wasn’t an option in the poll.

Folks, these Switch 2 editions are just an easy way for Nintendo to quickly expand the Switch 2 lineup, do the proper upgrades to get the best results (or better results) out of the Switch 1 games, and keep up momentum for their respective IPs. At $5 for an upgrade Nintendo isn’t even trying hard to get rich here.

There is a zero percent chance that Nintendo doesn’t have an Animal Crossing being made for Switch 2 as we speak. Whether it hits in 2027 or 2028, Animal Crossing is part of Nintendo’s strategy to repeat the success of the Switch. Will it sell 45 million units? I wouldn’t think so. But 30 million seems to be a lock if they make sure to give us a compelling true upgrade to ACNH, whatever that looks like.

Hopefully it isn’t a harbinger for calamity again this time. I still remember the sinking feeling I felt realizing that the Animal Crossing countdown I had made on VGC was actually a countdown to a global pandemic. No more countdown threads for this guy.
