[Weekly Software & Hardware Sales] "Ghost of Youtei" takes the top spot! New releases include "Super Mario Galaxy 1+2, "FFT - Ivalice Chronicles" and "Digimon Story: Time Stranger" [September 29th - October 5th]
Famitsu's sales rankings. This time, we bring you a summary of estimated weekly sales figures for game software and hardware from September 29th to October 5th, 2025 in Japan.
Six titles (four if counted by platform) made their debut in this week's rankings, making it into the top 10. The top spot went to the open-world action adventure game Ghost of Yotei This is a new title developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the studio behind Ghost of Tsushima, which was a huge hit all over the world in 2020. It can be considered a successor and has sold over 120,000 units, it will be interesting to see how it fares in the future.
In 2nd place is Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, this is a collection of two 3D Mario games released for the Nintendo Wii. Not only have the graphics been improved but the game has also been adjusted to be easier to play with features such as a "Assist Mode" for beginners and an auto-save function, which have been well received.
Coming in third, fifth, and seventh place are the modern-day revival of a classic tactical RPG released in 1997 Final Fantasy Tactics: Ivalice Chronicles. The Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 versions made the top ten. The three titles got off to a strong start with cumulative sales of 77,834 units.
Also in sixth place is the RPG Digimon Story Time. The latest installment in the series' has made inroads, resulting in a major change in the top 10 this week.
