Why are we still listening to internet complaints after the launch of the Switch 2? With so much negativity surrounding it you'd think the thing would tank, but no, it was a record breaking launch lol

The same thing keeps happening. Internet cries about thing and it sells fine. We really need to stop listening to these enthusiast bubbles because they're just that, enthusiast bubbles.

By this point the Wii U was already dead and Nintendo needed to cut the 3DS price by 1/3 to save it. Meanwhile the Switch 2 is still selling ok. These are nothing alike.

Because that is the point of this thread.  The OP asked for everyone's opinion.  I could ask, "Why ask for people's opinions if you aren't allowed to disagree with the majority of posters here?"

You are the one who is actually in the bubble.  Bubbles get created when you don't allow people to have a different opinion.

Sure, those are major releases, my issue is people counting BotW as a major Switch title despite being cross-gen while simultaneously discounting Pokemon Legends or Metroid Prime because they are cross-gen.

It is very reasonable to count BotW as a major Switch title while discounting Pokemon Legends for Switch 2.  That is because with cross-gen titles you have to consider the other system people might play the game on.  Since few people owned the Wii U, most people just bought a Switch to play BotW.  On the other hand, people don't have to buy a Switch 2 to play Pokemon Legends.  Most Pokemon fans already have a Switch.

No, the install base of the previous console does not determine whether a cross-gen title is a major release.

What determines if a title is major is its sales potential and ability to move hardware.
